About

Founded in 2012, Giving Back to Kenya was born when the Raore family visited Kenya only to find countless teenagers who should have been in school, loitering around the village.  Their explanation was simple. They could not afford the tuition and fees needed to attend high school. Some had started and dropped out, others had never even started. The cost of attending high school for one school year in Kenya ranges between $500 and $1500 USD depending on the school. Being an orphan was a major factor contributing to the high school dropout rate. "We had to do something."

Testimonials

"My parents had passed away and I had no one to pay my school fees for further studies. In our village, post-primary studies were regarded as a luxury and therefore I had no other option but to drop out of school. My life was full of darkness but now, the light has shone on me."

Renny Ochieng  (GBTK Student / 2012 - 2019)

“Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world.”
